\n\tMequon, WI – The Lakeshore Chinooks played the La Crosse Loggers in five games in a row spanning four days, but they finally got to see some new faces as the Eau Claire Express came to town on Monday. The two teams battled for six innings, but the game was ultimately finalized after lightning in the area caused the game to be delayed and later ruled to be final. Lakeshore came out on top of this one, riding a great pitching performance to a 3-0 victory.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tBoth teams were held scoreless for the first three and a half innings, but the Chinooks broke the tie in the bottom of the fourth. Doug Kraeger <\/strong>(Richmond) led off the inning with a single, and Colby Fitch <\/strong>(Louisville) followed by drawing a walk. After Mark Kolozsvary <\/strong>(Florida) was hit by a pitch, Lakeshore had the bases loaded with no outs. Kraeger later came around to score when Eric Fasnacht <\/strong>(Concordia- St. Paul) hit a sacrifice fly. However, that was all the Chinooks would get after they certainly threatened for more. \n<\/p>\n \n\tThe team came right back in the fifth to load the bases again with no outs. Anthony Massicci <\/strong>(Canisius) walked to begin the inning, and Andrew Shaps <\/b>(Arizona State) proceeded to single. Lucas Raley <\/strong>(Lake Erie College) then drew a walk of his own. The team scored after Kolozsvary walked, bringing home Massicci, but once again one that is all that the team would settle for. \n<\/p>\n \n\tJohn Schreiber <\/strong>(Kent State) was the starter for Lakeshore. He entered the game with a 2.25 ERA, and the success continued for him in this outing. Schreiber threw all six innings, not allowing a run. He scattered five hits and gave up two walks while striking out three. Needless to say, Schreiber has certainly earned his spot in the Lakeshore rotation after also spending time out of the bullpen this season. \n<\/p>\n \n\tThe scoring kept going for the Chinooks in the bottom of the sixth inning. Fasnacht singled to lead off the inning, and he later advanced to second on a David Edson <\/strong>(USC) ground out. He then came around to score on a Shaps RBI single to make it 3-0. \n<\/p>\n \n\tAfter the bottom of the sixth, the game was delayed due to lightning in the area. The rain rolled in shortly thereafter, and with fans already out in their cars to seek shelter from the lightning, the game was made final. \n<\/p>\n \n\tThe Chinooks now move to 24-25 on the season and 7-10 in the second half. The team will be right back at it on Tuesday as they take on the Kalamazoo Growlers in the first contest of a two-game set. \n<\/p>\n \n\tThe Lakeshore Chinooks are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League.
