\n\tMequon, WI- The Lakeshore Chinooks (9-6) were defeated by the Rockford Rivets Saturday night, as the Rivets came out on top, 3-2.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Rivets jumped out to the early lead in this one, thanks to a Neal Tyrell RBI single in the top of the 1st<\/sup>, plating Hunter Feduccia after he hit a ground-rule double earlier in the inning.\n<\/p>\n \n\tThe Chinooks wasted no time to retaliate, as Matthew Mika (Central Florida) singled to lead off the game for the Chinooks in the bottom of the 1st<\/sup>, and later came around to score on a Joe Duncan (Eastern Illinois) sacrifice fly, tying the game at 1.\n<\/p>\n \n\tA Matthew Mika sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 2nd<\/sup> inning plated Daniel DeSimone (Oklahoma State), after DeSimone singled earlier in the inning. The run gave Lakeshore a 2-1 lead over the Rivets.\n<\/p>\n \n\tHunter Feduccia gave the Rivets the lead in the top half of the 5th<\/sup>, plating Zach Rheams and Anthony Forte on a 2-run double, as Rockford took the 3-2 lead.\n<\/p>\n \n\tThe pitching staff of the Rivets silenced the bats of the Chinooks for most of the game, as Lakeshore didn’t record a base hit from the 3rd<\/sup> to the 7th<\/sup> inning, as the offense managed just two runs in total.\n<\/p>\n \n\tThis game featured two starting pitchers who were both impressive, as both Austin Jones (UW-Whitewater) and Jeffrey Barton went at least six innings.\n<\/p>\n \n\tFor the Rivets, Jeffrey Barton lasted six innings, allowing just two runs on five hits, while walking none and striking out one, as he earned the victory.\n<\/p>\n \n\tFor the Chinooks, Austin Jones took the loss, as he allowed three runs on six hits over 6.1 innings, while walking one and striking out four.\n<\/p>\n \n\tAustin Jones continues to be a nice addition for the Chinooks, as his season ERA now sits at a sparkling 3.05. In his four starts with the team, Jones has walked just five batters over 20.2 innings.\n<\/p>\n \n\tLakeshore will call upon Cyrillo Watson (Illinois) to get back in the win column, as Watson carries a dazzling 2.53 ERA into his start on Sunday afternoon.\n<\/p>\n \n\tThe Lakeshore Chinooks (9-6) will face off against the Rivets again tomorrow at 4:05 in Rockford with Cyrillo Watson on the mound for the Chinooks looking to split the 2-game series with Rockford.\n<\/p>\n
