The Madison Mallards (34-22) split the double header at the Duck Pond with the Green Bay Booyah (26-30), after rallying late in game two. Madison pulled off another come-from-behind win, 8-5.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Green Bay rocked the Mallards during game one, pulling away with a 16-6 victory to start the day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Madison started off hot in the beginning, scoring in the first off an RBI single by Austin Blazevic (Southeast Missouri) to grab a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Booyah responded in the top of the second with a run to tie the game at one, scoring on a throwing error by Madison\u2019s starting pitcher.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Green Bay bats continued to dominate the Mallards defense in the top of the third. A balk on Madison starter, Deylen Miley (Bellarmine), gave the Booyah an easy pass to take the 2-1 lead. Cooper Morrison (UC Davis) stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and walked to put Green Bay higher on the board 3-1. A second error on the Mallards defense during the inning allowed a run to score, bringing Green Bay up 4-1 going into the bottom of the third.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mallards\u2019 bats started to make noise again in the bottom of the fourth. A two RBI single by Timo Schau (Southern Wesleyan) brought two more runs for the Mallards to cut the lead by one, 4-3.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Inning five was monstrous for Green Bay. Booyah scored five runs, starting with a lead off solo home run by Blaise Maris (Florida Tech) to make the score 5-3. A walk with the bases loaded doubled the lead 6-3, followed by a two RBI single by Jacob Buchberger (Davenport) to drive Green Bay up 8-3. Two more runs scored on an error and a three-run home run by Nick Kreutzer (Arkansas Pine Bluff), gave Booyah a ten run cushion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Green Bay held a 13-3 lead going into the bottom of the inning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Madison continued to remain silent on offense, while Green Bay maintained control. In the top of the sixth, Booyah scored two more runs off an RBI single by Brady West (North Greenville) and an error, to come out of the inning 15-3.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the eighth inning of the game, Madisons bats made one more attempt at a come-from-behind win, scoring three more runs. Justice Bigbie (Western Carolina) slammed a two RBI double, then eventually scored on an error, to bring the score 15-6.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Green Bay did damage one last time during the top of the ninth. Booyah scored their final run off an error, making the final score 16-6. Green Bay handed the Mallards their 22 loss of the season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mallards starting pitcher, Miley, was awarded the loss after Green Bay took the lead during his time on the mound.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The win went Green Bay reliever, Nick Riggle (California PA), after he pitched five innings, preventing the Mallards from getting ahead at any point during the game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In game two, Green Bay jumped on the Mallards early. An RBI single in the first inning by Kreutzer and an RBI single in the second by West, put the Booyah ahead 2-0 going into the third.<\/span><\/p>\n

Green Bay continued to prevail over the Mallards defense in the top of the fifth. Two more runs scored, the first off an RBI single by Ali LaPread (Georgia Gwinnett) to make the score 3-0. An error by the Mallards infield caused another run to score, giving Green Bay a free pass to take a 4-0 lead going into the sixth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Madisons\u2019 bats began to wake up in the bottom of the sixth. The Mallards cut the Booyah lead in half, 4-2, after scoring on an RBI single by JT Mabry (Middle Tennessee State) and an error on the Booyah infield.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mallards rallied in the bottom of the seventh to shake the Green Bay defense. An RBI single by Bigbie followed by an RBI single by Blazevic, tied the game at four. Next, Mabry gave the Mallards their first lead of the game, after ripping an RBI single down the middle to make the score 5-4 going into the eighth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Green Bay was not discouraged by the run, tying the game at five in the top of the eighth off an RBI single by Maris.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Madisons\u2019 bats exploded in the eighth inning. A sacrifice fly to center field scored Bigbie to give the Mallards back the lead, 6-5. Jordan Stephens (Miami Ohio) propelled the Mallards over the Booyah with a two RBI double to bring the score to 8-5, before being thrown out at third to end the inning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mallards had a three-run cushion going into the ninth, and were able to prevent the Booyah from scoring after Theo Denlinger (Bradley) came out of the bullpen and retired three in a row to secure the win. The double header split marks the Mallards 34th win of the season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Will Saxton (Florida International) was awarded the loss after the Mallards took an 8-5 lead in the eighth inning, their last lead of the game before coming away with the victory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Leon Davidson (North Carolina A&T) added a win to his record after stopping the Booyah from scoring during his outing. Denlinger picked up his eighth save of the season after punching out three in the ninth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Turning Points<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the first game, Schau hammered a two RBI double to bring the Mallards within one run, 4-3, in the bottom of the fourth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In game two, Stephens blasted a two RBI double to put the Mallards ahead in the bottom of the eighth. This lead eventually lead to helping secure the Mallards victory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
