Madison, WI – June 7, 2012. Another lights out performance by starting pitcher Trevor Foss (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) and a cold-blooded relief appearance by closer John Hamilton (UNC-Charlotte) to finish off the game secured the Madison Mallards (5-4) a 1-0 win over the Green Bay Bullfrogs (3-6). The win secured the series for the Mallards and puts them in a position to sweep the series in tomorrows finale.<\/p>\n

Both teams were kept off of the scoreboard until the third when first baseman Jeff Zimmerman\"Munoz was able to drive a ball through the infield and into center to score second baseman Luis Munoz (Coffeyville CC).<\/p>\n

The Bullfrogs threatened in the eighth when they were able to load the bases off of two walks and
a hit batsman by Mallards reliever Will Lamarche. With two outs closer John Hamilton was brought in to get out of the jam, striking out designated hitter Alex Abrams (Furman) on a called strike three.<\/p>\n

Hamilton was able to come back out in the ninth and put down the first three hitters he faced, strking out two and giving the Mallards the 1-0 win. Through 1.1 innings on the mound he struck out three and did not allow a hit, earning his third save of the season.\"Will<\/p>\n

Foss (1-0) got the win for the Mallards in his second start of the season. In 7.0 innings he gave up four hits but did not allow a run, stiking out eight.<\/p>\n

Bullfrogs starter Bryce Bellin was the hard luck loser in his first start of the season. Bellin (0-1) went 5.0 innings without allowing an earned run, giving up two hits and striking out four. The lone run was unearned after Munoz got on base on a throwing error by Bullfrog shortstop Jason McMurray (Notrea Dame).\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Mallards will play the series finale against Green Bay at the “Duck Pond” on Friday June 8th. That night fans will be able to pick up LEGO Maynard kits designed by briXwerX studios presented by Zimbrick Honda. The Inflatamaniacs will also be on hand to provide in game entertainment.<\/p>\n
