Madison, WI \u2013 June 17, 2012. The Madison Mallards (9-10) used a four hit, six run eighth inning to put the game out of reach of the Lakeshore Chinooks (9-10) and register a 9-3 Father\u2019s Day victory. The win gave the Mallards a sweep of the Chinooks in the final two games of their five game home stand.<\/p>\n

The Chinooks got off to a hot start in the first inning, scoring on an RBI single by designated hitter Eric Aguilera (Illinois State) that allowed left fielder Forrest Chadwick (Southern Maine) to reach home.<\/p>\n

In the bottom half of the inning the Mallards would tie the score when third baseman\u00a0\u00a0Jose Trevino<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Trevino2-(Oral Roberts) hit a hard grounder into right field to score designated hitter \u00a0Tyler Marincov<\/a> \u00a0(North Florida), giving Trevino his sixth RBI of the season.<\/p>\n

The Chinooks would retake the lead in the third inning on center fielder Zack Granite\u2019s (Seton Hall) RBI hit to left field, scoring right fielder Bre Kimbell (Louisiana Tech).<\/p>\n

Once again the Mallards would respond with a Trevino RBI hit, scoring Marincov for his second run of the game and tying the score at two. The Mallards would take the lead on a sacrifice fly by first baseman \u00a0Michael McGraw<\/a> \u00a0(Missouri) that allowed Trevino to tag up from third base and score.<\/p>\n

The Mallards broke the game open in the eighth inning with RBI hits by McGraw, shortstop \u00a0Tom Verdi<\/a> \u00a0(Connecticut), and right fielder \u00a0Jack Livingston<\/a> \u00a0(Northwestern) to put the Mallards ahead 6-2. Catcher \u00a0Mike Reuvekamp<\/a> \u00a0(California) would put the exclamation point on the inning with a bases clearing RBI double to make the score 9-2.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mallards starter \u00a0Kurt Giller<\/a> \u00a0(Oral Roberts) earned his first win of the season. In 5.0 innings Giller<\/p>\n

\"Kurt(1-0) struck out four while allowing two runs on seven hits.<\/p>\n

Chinooks starter Nick Soldano was tagged with the loss after giving up three runs and eight hits in 6.0 innings.<\/p>\n

With today\u2019s conclusion of the Mallards five game home stand the team will head up to Green Bay to start a three game series with the Green Bay Bullfrogs (9-9).<\/p>\n

After getting shut out in their last road game 4-0 by the Wisconsin Woodchucks (8-10) the Mallards responded nicely, averaging over seven runs a game over their last five games.<\/p>\n

The Mallards will return to the \u201cDuck Pond\u201d on Wednesday June 20th<\/sup> to take on the Green Bay Bullfrogs. That night will be Oscar Mayer Appreciation Night at the ballpark, featuring Weiner dog races.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
