Madison, WI \u2013 June 19, 2012. The Madison Mallards (9-11) will finish off their two game road trip to Green Bay and play the second game of their three game series against the Green Bay Bullfrogs (11-9). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Monday the Mallards were soundly beaten by the Bullfrogs in the series opener, losing 8-0 in a rain-delayed contest.<\/p>\n

The Bullfrogs got six shutout innings out of their starter Christain Cecilio (San Francisco), who had not pitched more than two innings all season. In his longest start Cecilio (1-0) kept the Mallards off balance and off the base paths, allowing only six Mallards to get on base.<\/p>\n

Looking to even up the series for the Mallards will be right-hander Trevor Foss (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi). Currently Foss (1-1) sits at third in league strikeout leaders with 29, and is coming off his highest strikeout total of the season with 10 strikeouts. His last start was somewhat of a mixed bag, although he had the 10 strikeouts Foss took the loss by allowing 10 hits and five runs in a 6-4 loss to the Battle Creek Bombers (9-11). After cruising through much of his outing the Bombers tagged Foss for four runs in a two out rally in the fourth inning to spoil what was otherwise a great outing. Getting off to a good start and maintaining his focus throughout the start will be key for Foss.<\/p>\n

Right-hander Bryce Bellin (Minnesota State) will get his third start of the season tonight for the Bullfrogs. Bellin (0-2) has already made a start against Foss and the Mallards this season, getting the hard luck loss in a 1-0 defeat to the Mallards. In both of his starts Bellin has been marvelous for the Bullfrogs, but has received zero runs of support from the offense. In 10.1 innings on the mound he has compiled 0.87 ERA and has only issued three walks.<\/p>\n

In the first meeting between these two pitchers both offenses struggled mightily, combining for six hits and one run. The lone run \"Munozcame in the third inning and was unearned when second baseman Luis Munoz (Coffeyville CC) scored on an RBI single by first baseman Jeff Zimmerman (Northern Illinois). Both lineups will need to be aggressive and avoid getting deep into counts with these two pitchers who both challenge hitters directly and have shown great control.<\/p>\n

After tonight\u2019s game the Mallards will return to the \u201cDuck Pond\u201d on Wednesday June 20th<\/sup> to finish their series with the Bullfrogs. That night will be Oscar Mayer Appreciation Night at the ballpark, featuring Weiner dog races.<\/p>\n
