Mequon, WI- June 22, 2012- The Madison Mallards (10-14) ended their four game losing streak on the road Friday night shutting out the Lakeshore Chinooks (11-13) to the score of 5-0. Mallards catcher Jose Trevino (Oral Roberts) hit a three run home run in the fifth inning to put the Mallards out of reach of the Chinooks and tied the series at one game each.<\/p>\n

The Mallards got on the board in the second inning when first baseman Jeff Zimmerman (Northern Illinois) scored off a Phil Sorenson (Tennessee Martin) RBI single to make the score 1-0.<\/p>\n

The scoring resumed in the fifth inning when Mallards\u2019 center fielder Tyler Marincov (North Florida) and second baseman Luiz Munoz (Coffeyville CC) reached base on fielder\u2019s choice. Trevino then ripped a pitch up the first base line, but the potential RBI scoring hit was called foul by the home plate umpire.\u00a0 <\/span>The next pitch Travino saw left the park.\u00a0 <\/span>A three run shot to left field by the catcher put the score at 4-0, and the Mallards never looked back.<\/p>\n

In the top of the ninth inning Marincov scored an unearned run to put the score at 5-0.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mallards starting pitcher Anthony Marzi (Connecticut) improved to 2-0 as he settled in for six innings of work and earned the quality start win. Marzi scattered seven hits, allowed no runs, walked one, and stuck out four.<\/p>\n

Lakeshore Chinooks starter Josh Uhen (UW-Milwaukee) is charged with the loss after his five innings of work.\u00a0 <\/span>The night saw Uhen give up four runs on five hits. Uhen walked none and struck out no Mallards\u2019 hitters.<\/p>\n

Pitcher Josh Hamilton(UNC Charlotte) got his fifth save of the season in one inning of work. Hamilton stuck out two and walked one to finish the game in Mequon.<\/p>\n

The shutout was the Mallards second of the year. Their last shutout came June 7th<\/sup> against the Green Bay Bullfrogs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>The Mallards will return to the \u201cDuck Pond\u201d on Saturday June 23rd<\/sup> to finish their series with the Chinooks. That night will be Jani-King Air Freshener at the ballpark, featuring post-game fireworks presented by Budweiser.<\/p>\n
