Madison, WI \u2013 June 23, 2012. The Madison Mallards (10-14) will finish off their three game series with the Lakeshore Chinooks (11-13) tonight at the \u201cDuck Pond\u201d. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Friday the Mallards were able to get back in the win column and end their four game losing streak with a 5-0 win over the Chinooks. The win evened up the series and sets up a rubber match between the two in tonight\u2019s game.<\/p>\n

The win came on the back of catcher of \u00a0Jose Trevino<\/a> \u2019s (Oral Roberts) third home run of the season, a three run shot that put the Mallards ahead for good. The homer was coupled with a stellar pitching performance by Mallards starting pitcher \u00a0Anthony Marzi<\/a> \u00a0(Connecticut), who gave up no runs and struck out four to earn his second win of the season.<\/p>\n

Looking to get the win today for the Mallards is right-hander \u00a0Kurt Giller<\/a> \u00a0(Oral Roberts). His last time out on the mound Giller (1-0) got the win, giving up two runs and striking out four in 5.0 innings of work in the Mallards 9-3 June 17th<\/sup> victory over the Chinooks.<\/p>\n

Lefty Nick Soldano (North Park) will get the start for the Chinooks. The start will be his second shot at the Mallards after taking the loss in the Chinook June 17th<\/sup> defeat. Soldano (1-1) gave up two earned runs on eight hits, but was victimized by an unearned run that gave Giller and the Mallards the edge in the contest.<\/p>\n

On defense the Mallards will have to contend with Chinooks catcher Nate Ruzich (South Suburban), whose 1.000 fielding percentage has him rated as the top overall defensive catcher in the Northwoods League.<\/p>\n

With the conclusion of tonight\u2019s game the Mallards and Chinooks will finish a stretch in which the two teams played each other five times in eight days.<\/p>\n

The Mallards will continue their weekend home stand at the \u201cDuck Pond\u201d on Sunday June 24th<\/sup> against the Eau Claire Express (7-16). That night will be the Meriter and Physicians Plus Stadium Blanket Giveaway at the ballpark.\u00a0<\/p>\n
