Green Bay, WI – July 9, 2012.\u00a0The Madison Mallards took to the road for the first time in the second half looking to change their road fortunes from the first half. The game appeared to be a pitchers duel early on as Mallards starter Trevor Foss (Texas A&M- Corpus Christi) and Green Bays starter Bryce Bellin (Minnesota State) faced off against one another for a third time this season. The two battled through three scoreless innings before Green Bay broke the game open.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

A one out RBI single by Bullfrogs catcher Chris Hoo (Cal Poly) got the scoring started, and was quickly followed up by another RBI single by Collin Shaw (Texas). After a slow grounder to Mallards shortstop Tom Verdi (Connecticut), his throw went over the head of second basemen Luis Munoz (Coffeyville College), scoring Green Bay’s Chris Hoo and Alex Abrams (Furman).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mallards could not get anything going as\u00a0Bellin continued his dominance. Bellin pitched six innings, striking out a season high nine batters and only allowed one hit. Now in three starts against the Mallards, the righty has not allowed an earned run in eighteen innings pitched, while allowing just five hits and striking out eighteen.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

Green Bays Bud Jeter (Presbyterian College) who\u00a0came in to relieve Bellin, picked right up where Bellin left off as he pitched two innings, striking out four, and only allowing one hit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

Trevor Foss was charged with the loss after pitching six innings before being replaced by Anothoy Marzi (Connecticut). Marzi entered the game out of the bullpen for the second time this season. In his first bullpen appearance he only threw one inning, allowing one earned one and striking out one, but tonight he closed out the game for the Mallards pitching two innings, and allowing two hits, no runs, all while striking out two.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Offensively the Mallards were shutdown by the Bullfrogs pitching staff for the third straight game, as they were shutout 4-0. This marks the third straight shutout for Green Bay over the Mallards.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mallards will say goodbye to Jose Trevino once again as he heads back to Team USA tomorrow. Team USA heads to the Netherlands for Honkbal-Haarlem Baseball Week July 14- July 22, here Trevino will be able to grow as a player as he faces the best college baseball players in the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mallards finish up their series with Green Bay tomorrow night at 7:05 pm, then will embark to Battle Creek (1-4) for a two game stand. The team returns to the “Duck Pond” on Friday July 13th to take on the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters at 7:05 pm. That night Mini of Madison presents the Half Pint Brawler Midget Wrestler after the game.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
