{"id":1853,"date":"2013-02-18T22:02:50","date_gmt":"2013-02-18T22:02:50","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T05:00:00","slug":"mallardssignappalachianstatepitcherjamienunn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/madison-mallards\/2013\/02\/18\/mallardssignappalachianstatepitcherjamienunn\/","title":{"rendered":"Mallards Sign Appalachian State Pitcher Jamie Nunn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Madison, WI &#8211; February 19, 2013. \u00a0The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of sophomore right-handed pitcher Jamie Nunn from Appalachian State University.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%27http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%27%20width%3D%27150%27%20height%3D%27210%27%20viewBox%3D%270%200%20150%20210%27%3E%3Crect%20width%3D%27150%27%20height%3D%27210%27%20fill-opacity%3D%220%22%2F%3E%3C%2Fsvg%3E\" data-orig-src=\"http:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/stories\/ORGANIZEDIMAGES\/Players\/2013\/Nunn_Jamie\/Nunn_Jamie_Headshot_ASU_Roster.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"210\" alt=\"Nunn_Jamie_Headshot_ASU_Roster\" style=\"margin: 3px; float: right;\" \/>Nunn, a 6&#8217;2&#8243;, 210-pound sophomore from Winston-Salem, North Carolina will come to Madison after his second season playing for the Mountaineers. \u00a0In his lone start in 2013, Nunn was dominant, pitching six innings, and striking out five while only allowing one earned run. \u00a0He earned the win against #8 ranked North Carolina State.<\/p>\n<p>As a freshman in 2012 Nunn appeared in 23 games including six starts. \u00a0He finished with a 5-2 record, 4.24 ERA and struck out 45 batters in 46.2 innings pitched. \u00a0After the season he was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by <em>Collegiate Baseball Newspaper<\/em>\u00a0and was also a member of the Southern Conference All-Freshman team.<\/p>\n<p>Nunn pitched for the Thomasville Hi Toms of the Summer Collegiate Coastal Plains League in 2012. \u00a0He posted a 2.04 ERA in 17.2 innings pitched while holding opponents to a .183 batting average. \u00a0He appeared in five games including one start.<\/p>\n<p>Nunn starred at Mt. Tabor High School where he was a two-time All-Conference and All-County Honoree. \u00a0He posted a 2.81 ERA as a senior and 1.70 ERA as a junior while also hitting .300 each season. \u00a0He was named the team&#8217;s Most Valuable Defensive Player as a junior and senior. \u00a0He is majoring in chemistry at Appalachian State and plans to attend medical school.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText\">The Mallards will host their season opener against the Eau Claire Express on May 29th at 7:05 pm at the &#8220;Duck Pond.&#8221;\u00a0 Single-game tickets will go on sale April 27th.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoBodyText\">The Madison Mallards are part of the 16-team Northwoods League.\u00a0 The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other Summer Collegiate Baseball League in North America.\u00a0 In 2013, the Northwoods League will celebrate its 20th season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Madison, WI &#8211; February 19, 2013. \u00a0The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of sophomore right-handed pitcher Jamie Nunn from  [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[38],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1853","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-archived-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.5 (Yoast SEO v26.5) -
