Following a comeback 4-3 win last night, the Madison Mallards (17-12) are once again hosting the Wisconsin Woodchucks (20-10) for the series finale at 1:05 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last night, Liam Moreno (Missouri State) hit a ball past the third baseman in the eighth which brought home two runs for the Mallards and put them on top 4-3. Kade Lancour (UW-Whitewater) then pitched the top of the ninth and picked up the save.<\/span><\/p>\n

Justin Medlin (Arkansas State) started on the mound and did not factor in the decision, but he was masterful once again pitching six innings, allowing only two runs and striking out 10.<\/span><\/p>\n

Starting on the mound tonight for the Mallards will be left-hander Joey Kalafut (Edgewood). Kalafut will be making his third start of the season and ninth appearance. His last start was a good one, pitching six innings giving up just two runs and picking up the win against Lakeshore.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the mound for the Woodchucks will be right-hander Nick Marshall (West Texas A&M University). Marshall will be making his fifth appearance and just his third start as he currently holds a 5.84 ERA in 12.1 innings pitched.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mallards come into the day 2.5 games back of the Woodchucks who are in first in the Great Lakes West standings. Fond Du Lac is in second place, one game back after their game from yesterday against the Booyah got postponed to today as part of a doubleheader.<\/span><\/p>\n

This will be the final matchup between the Woodchucks and Mallards this season as the very tightly contested season series comes to a close. The Mallards currently lead the series 6-5 but the teams have split every series prior to this one with every game except one being decided by two runs or less.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today\u2019s game will be a day game starting at 1:05 p.m. Following today\u2019s action the Mallards will stay at home and host the Green Bay Booyah for a three-game series including a 7-inning doubleheader on Monday starting at 4:00 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
