{"id":21169,"date":"2022-07-01T23:39:54","date_gmt":"2022-07-02T04:39:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/madison-mallards\/?p=21169"},"modified":"2022-07-01T23:39:54","modified_gmt":"2022-07-02T04:39:54","slug":"mallards-overpower-rockers-on-friday-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/madison-mallards\/2022\/07\/01\/mallards-overpower-rockers-on-friday-night\/","title":{"rendered":"Mallards Overpower Rockers on Friday Night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Mallards Overpower Rockers on Friday Night<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Madison hits three home runs in victory in Green Bay<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ashwaubenon, WI \u2013 The Mallards were able to overpower Green Bay on Friday night at Capital Credit Union Park with a 6-3 win over the Rockers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Madison was bombs away from the start of the game against Rockers\u2019 starter <\/span><b>Chris Sleeper<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. In both of the first two innings, Sleeper had tallied two outs and then allowed a solo home run. <\/span><b>Estevan Moreno <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">hit his second home run in as many nights in the 1st inning and <\/span><b>Christian Rivera <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">hit his sixth in the 2nd. The most runs in an inning came in the top of the 4th with a three spot in the frame thanks to four free passes from Sleeper. Green Bay called on reliever <\/span><b>Logan Berrier <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">after a walk to <\/span><b>Johnny Long <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(0-1, 3 BB). The first batter that Berrier had to face was leadoff man <\/span><b>J.J. Rollon<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and Rollon slashed a two-run single to left to make the lead 5-0. Rivera hit another home run in the top of the 6th.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Beau Nichols <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">turned in four scoreless innings in his sixth start of the season for the Mallards. Nichols (3 H, 4 BB, 3 K) never found an exact groove with his breaking ball but was efficient enough to induce soft contact from the Rockers lineup. Green Bay left ten runners on base in the first six innings of the game. The first Rockers run came in the bottom of the 5th inning against <\/span><b>Gauge Lockhart<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> when <\/span><b>Owen Jackson <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">bounced into a fielder\u2019s choice, scoring <\/span><b>Tristian Garcia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. The other two Green Bay runs came in the bottom of the 6th on a solo home run from <\/span><b>Shane Gipson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and another in the 7th off the bat of Jackson. Madison threw a combination of <\/span><b>Steven Lacey <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and <\/span><b>Bryce Woody<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, who both sat consistently around 90 MPH, to close out the game. Woody earned save number four on the season in the 6-3 win.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Mallards finish their series at Capital Credit Union Park in Green Bay tomorrow looking for just their third season sweep of the year.
