Last night’s Box Score<\/a><\/p>\n

Madison, Wis. \u2013 August 9, 2009. The Madison Mallards\u2019 playoff hopes were put to rest with a 5-0 defeat to Green Bay on Sunday night. Monday\u2019s season finale will be just the third game in franchise history that the Mallards will play with nothing on the line, a mark of a successful organization since 2001.<\/p>\n

Madison\u2019s Cody Winiarski (Virginia) was out-dueled by Green Bay\u2019s Dixon Anderson in game one of the series. Both hurlers went the distance in a speedy game time of 2:06. The Bullfrogs backed the right arm of Anderson, who touched 94 mph into the ninth, with five runs on nine hits.<\/p>\n

Nick Rice (MATC) will toe the rubber for the Mallards in the final game of the 2009 season.\u00a0 The right-hander hasn\u2019t recorded a decision thus far and will be making his third start of the year on Monday. Green Bay has yet to announce which starting pitcher they will throw. The Mallards look to end the season on a high note and put an end to the Bullfrogs seven-game winning streak. <\/p>\n

Monday will be Charter Communications Fan Appreciation Night at the ballpark. Every fan will receive a team poster as they enter the \u201cDuck Pond\u201d. The winner of the Mallards scooter will also be announced. Fans can still purchase tickets for the raffle during the game. Proceeds benefit the Madison Children\u2019s Museum.<\/p>\n

Monday\u2019s Pitching Match-up<\/strong>
MADISON – RHP Nick Rice (MATC) : Has yet to record a decision for the Mallards and has a 5.02 ERA in four appearances spanning over 14.1 innings pitched. The right-hander will be making his third start of the season. In his last start, Rice went five innings, allowing four runs on four hits while walking five in what became a 15-9 loss to Rochester back on August 5. <\/p>\n

GREEN BAY \u2013 TBA

One Streak Ends, Another Lives On<\/strong>
Troy Channing\u2019s (St. Mary\u2019s) streak of 23 consecutive games reaching base safely came to an end on Sunday night, but Jimmy Parque (St. John\u2019s) was able to extend his to 18 games. Channing hit just .243 during the streak, but held an on-base percentage of .411. It was the fourth-longest streak of any player in the Northwoods League this season.<\/p>\n

Parque extended his streak with a walk in four plate appearances on Monday night. His average sits at .333 with an on-base percentage over .450 during the stretch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
