The Chinooks\u2019 pitching staff was lights out in the 3-1 win.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lakeshore was able to scratch for a run in the top of the 1<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">st<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> against Mallards\u2019 starter <\/span><b>Joel Barker<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (5.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K). Barker and reliever <\/span><b>Bryce Leedle <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">were able to help out the rest of the Mallards\u2019 bullpen by completing the game themselves. Leedle matched Barker\u2019s strikeout tally while finishing out the contest. The game went quiet until the bottom of the 4<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> inning when Madison had two runners aboard. After a double play erased one of the runners, <\/span><b>Chad McCann <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">scampered home on a wild pitch from Lakeshore\u2019s starting pitcher <\/span><b>Xander Rojahn<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to tie at 1-1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Offense was hard to come by for Madison. The team only had one hit through the first eight innings of play before adding two more in the 8<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> inning off hard-throwing right-hander <\/span><b>George Klassen <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(S, 1). The Chinooks\u2019 offensive breakthrough came in the top of the 6<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> frame. Back-to-back doubles down the left and right field lines were able to produce two runs and that was all Lakeshore needed to push for the win. Klassen struck out five on eight batters faced to put the Mallards away.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Mallards travel to Kapco Park to complete their season series with the Lakeshore Chinooks tomorrow with first pitch at 5:05 PM. A valuable training ground for coaches,<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">umpires, and front office staff, 300 Northwoods League players have advanced to<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> A<\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ward winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Series Champion Max Scherzer (NYM), two-time World Series Champions Ben<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Zobrist and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(BOS). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and 2019\/2021 Home Run Derby<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and 2021 All-Star, MLB Gold Glove winner and<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2019 Second Team All-MLB shortstop Marcus Semien (TEX).
