Madison, WI \u2013 February 8, 2010. What do the Madison Mallards and Sunday\u2019s Dr. Pepper Super Bowl commercial have in common? Mini Kiss, of course. In the latest chapter of zany promotions planned by the Mallards marketing staff each summer, the team has booked \u201cMini Kiss,\u201d a tribute band of little people dressed like you-guessed-it–Kiss. The band is set to appear at the ballpark on Friday, August 6, sign autographs during the game, and perform a post-game concert at a location to be determined in the coming weeks. <\/p>\n

Sunday\u2019s commercial was played with two minutes remaining in the second quarter and featured the real former Kiss lead vocalist Gene Simmons promoting Dr. Pepper with a little \u201ckiss\u201d of cherry flavor. Mini Kiss was shown performing Kiss\u2019 hit song, \u201cCalling Dr. Love,\u201d as members of the original band joined them on stage.<\/p>\n

Since Sunday, the \u201cDr. Pepper Cherry Dr. Love \u2013 Little Kiss YouTube video had over 750,000 views.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Last summer the Mallards booked Johnny Cash\u2019s original backing band, \u201cThe Tennessee Three,\u201d who performed a special post-game concert at the Essen Haus.<\/p>\n

The Madison Mallards are members of the 16-team summer collegiate Northwoods League. Opening Day is slated for Wednesday, June 2, at 7:05 p.m. against the Wisconsin Woodchucks.
