The Mallards held a comfortable 3-0 lead for the majority of Saturday night?s game in Duluth, and had a two-run lead through six innings of play, but the Huskies rallied to score three runs in the seventh inning, giving them a one-run advantage they would hold on to, as the Huskies edged the Mallards 4-3. With the loss, the Mallards (7-3) stand one game back from the South Division leading Waterloo Bucks, whom the Mallards face at home for a two-game series starting Thursday, July, 22. <\/p>\n

Ricky Bauer started the game for Madison and pitched effectively, allowing one run and scattering five hits in five innings of work, but Mallards? relievers could not finish the job. Zach Peterson pitched the next 1 2\/3 innings, allowing two runs. Matt Petty (0-1) then stepped in, but gave up another run. Newcomer Tony Korson also made a relief appearance for the Mallards. <\/p>\n

Nate Trumm led all Mallards hitters on the night, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Doug Beck and Ryan Rogowski each went 1-for-4 with an RBI. The Mallards managed seven total hits, and could not get anything going offensively after a three-run third inning.<\/p>\n

The Mallards continue their road trip this afternoon, facing the Thunder Bay Border Cats. Gametime has been moved to 3:05 p.m. After two games against Thunder Bay, the Mallards head to Wausau before returning home on July 22 to face the Waterloo Bucks.
