Entering Wednesday?s contest with the La Crosse Loggers, the Mallards were 5-9 on the road. Having the daunting task to play the first-half champions on their own soil, the Mallards knew they were in for a battle.<\/p>\n

The Ducks however put records aside, and scored two unearned runs in the top of the tenth inning to go up by what proved to be the final score, 5-3. Greg Thomson blooped a popup off the glove of shortstop Mike Sirianni who let the ball fumble off his glove for an error.<\/p>\n

The Mallards capitalized off that error as Thompson stole second and scored on a double by Doug Beck. Jay Johnson later added an insurance run with a single. Johnson may have saved the game once already, robbing La Fringe Hayes of a home run in the fourth inning.<\/p>\n

Jake Eiler started the game for Madison, allowing only two runs over six innings while striking out five. D.J. Roshone picked up his first win of the season by stopping the Loggers threat in the ninth, and throwing a scoreless tenth.<\/p>\n

Ryan Rogowski went 2-4 with a stolen base, run scored, and a RBI. Greg Thomson scored two runs for the Mallards (2-0, 20-13) who have started the second half 2-0 on the road after starting the first half 1-5 away from the Duck Pond. <\/p>\n

The first place Mallards return home where they are 14-4 this season, to face the La Crosse Loggers Thursday night before traveling to Mankato to play the MoonDogs in yet another doubleheader Friday evening.
