Several players signed to play for the 2004 Madison Mallards are continuing to have successful collegiate seasons. Ricky Bauer, Matt Borman, and Nate Trumm all had prosperous weeks at their respective universities.<\/p>\n

Bauer, a junior at the University of Hawaii, won his seventh decision of the season defeating Fresno State 4-2 on Friday afternoon. Bauer gave up two runs, scattering nine hits, and striking out three in seven and one third innings of work. Bauer improved to seven and two on the season with a 3.10 earned run average. Bauer has struck out 51 batters in 78.1 innings of work this season.<\/p>\n

Matt Borman, a sophomore at Concordia University (Minn.), went five for six with a double, two home runs, and five runs batted in, as his team beat Northern State 14-0 on Sunday afternoon. This season Borman is batting .363 with 11 home runs and 36 RBI. Borman has also recorded three wins and three loses on the mound this season, registering a 2.36 earned run average with 46 strikeouts in 49.2 innings of work.<\/p>\n

Along with Bauer and Borman, Northern Iowa?s Nate Trumm had a successful week as well. Trumm doubled his season home run total this week, hitting his third home run in an 8-3 win against Iowa on Wednesday and clubbing his fourth in a 5-4 loss to Indiana State on Sunday. Trumm now has four home runs and 15 RBI on the season. <\/p>\n

The Mallards begin the 2004 season on June 2nd against the Wisconsin Woodchucks in Wausau. The home portion of the season starts on June 9th at 7:05 PM against the Mankato MoonDogs. Season tickets are now available at The Duck Pond and at mallardsbaseball.com. Individual game tickets go on sale May 1st. <\/p>\n
