Latest roster addition is St. John?s Mike Rozema
\nThe Madison Mallards have signed St. John?s University (New York) Junior shortstop Mike Rozema. Rozema, a 6?1? 180 lb left-handed hitter, was just named the Big East Conference Co-Player of the week. He is currently riding a fifteen game hitting streak & has been one of the hottest hitters in the country.
\nRozema is currently hitting .438, & as of April 14th had the 11th highest batting average in the country. Rozema will help to anchor a strong Mallards infield that already includes Wisconsin natives Mike Rohde, from New Orleans University who was the 2002 state HS player of the year from Brookfield Central; David Hrncirik, form the University of Minnesota who attended Madison West HS; & Joe Thamen, from Notre Dame University. Prior to the start of the 2003 season Rozema was named Captain of the Red Storm Baseball team (the first time eighth-year Head Coach Ed Blankmeyer has chosen someone other than a senior). He just completed a six game stretch where he had at least two hits in each game & hit an astounding .696 (16-23).<\/p>\n

Mallards new Head Coach Darrell Handelsman is excited about the addition of the shortstop from Fair Lawn, N.J.
