Midland College right-hander Kyle Yates and left-hander Andy Watson from Texas-Arlington will be sporting Mallards uniforms this summer.<br \/>\nYates is 11-2 this season in 14 appearances. In 80 innings pitched, Yates has 89 strikeouts and only 18 walks. The Kerrville, Texas native has a 2.92 earned run average with four shutouts this season. Yates has signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Texas-Austin next season.<br \/>\nWatson is a 6?3?, 200 lb. pitcher originally from Katy, Texas. Watson is 1-0 with a 5.62 earned run average in 11 appearances. The freshman was an All-State selection in his senior season at Taylor High School.<br \/>\nThe two additions give the Mallards a total of five pitchers from the state of Texas. Mallards new Head Coach Darrell Handelsman is excited to welcome the duo to Madison.<br \/>\n?Kyle has 11 wins and is playing for a Top-20 junior college program. That speaks volumes about his ability to come in and be a big part of our staff,? Handelsman said. ?Andy is a big lefty who has a chance to be a dominant force in the Northwoods League this summer.? <br \/>\nThe Mallards home opener is Wednesday, June 11th at 7:05 vs. the St. Cloud River Bats. Mallards Season Tickets are currently available at the Mallards office for only $150 per seat.
