Madison, WI \u2013 June 17, 2009. The Mallards ran into a pitcher eager to redeem himself at the \u201cDuck Pond\u201d in suffering a 6-3 loss to Scott Williams and the Waterloo Bucks on Tuesday night. Madison now looks to bounce back and earn a series split while protecting its home turf in which they are 9-2 so far on the year. It will be on the right arm of Cody Winiarski (MATC) tonight to try and snap the two-game losing skid.
<\/span><\/p>\n

Last night, Williams (1-1; UW-Stevens Point) gave up a run on five hits over seven innings last night to earn his first win of the season and overcame a rough outing back on June 3 when he took the loss in an 11-4 defeat to the Mallards in Madison. The Mallards out-hit the Bucks, 9-7, but three errors hurt the home team early on.\u00a0 Madison starter Joe Yermal (3-1; Charlotte) suffered his first loss of the year and was forced to leave after three innings of work upon suffering a strained right forearm.<\/p>\n

The Mallards took a 1-0 lead in the first on Joe Patterson\u2019s (Oklahoma State) RBI single, but would manufacture nothing more until the ninth inning. Meanwhile, the Bucks plated two runs in each the second, third and fifth innings and it would be all they needed in a 6-3 win.<\/p>\n

Tonight, Winiarski (2-1) will take the hill against Waterloo right-hander Chris Pack (0-1). Winiarski enters with a 2.42 ERA over three starts and 22.1 innings of work this year while Pack has a 2.95 ERA over three starts and 18.1 innings. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. at the \u201cDuck Pond\u201d.<\/p>\n
