Home field advantage is something that coaches everywhere will tell you makes all the difference in the world. But the Madison Mallards rebounded from a three-game home losing streak and went on the road and completed a two-game sweep of the second place La Crosse Loggers 6-5 Tuesday night in front of 3,282. With the victory, Madison moved 2 ? games ahead of the Loggers in the South Division standings.<\/p>\n

The Mallards fell behind early, but rallied with two runs in the third inning to take their first lead of the game. Kelly Sweppenhiser recorded his seventh RBI of the season on a sacrifice in the third to tie the game at one. Mike Rohde made the most of his at-bat in the third with an RBI single to give the Mallards their first lead of the ball game. And Rohde was not done yet.<\/p>\n

The infielder blasted a two-run homer in the sixth inning, scoring Sweppenhiser to make it 4-1 Mallards. Rohde finished the night two-for-four with three RBI and a run scored.<\/p>\n

The Mallards continued to pour it on in the seventh as Abe Aguirre recorded his first home run of the season, giving the Mallards a commanding 5-1 lead. Sweppenhiser continued his hot hitting with an RBI double that scored Ryan Rogowski to give Madison their biggest lead of the game.<\/p>\n

La Crosse rallied in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Loggers managed four runs and cut the lead to 6-5 before Kris Rochelle gunned down Jordan Pacheco at third base to end the game. <\/p>\n

The Mallards remain two games ahead of the Rochester Honkers and are 2 ? games ahead of La Crosse in the South Division. Madison visits the Woodchucks for a two game series before heading home to take on the second-place Honkers Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n
