The Madison Mallards fought off the weather and the Rochester Honkers through a rain filled evening and three-plus hours of baseball, squeaking out a 4-3 victory to pull into a first-place tie with the Honkers. <\/p>\n

The Mallards scored the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning on an error by Rochester pitcher Joel Barickman. Jordan Comadena strolled into home and pointed at the plate before scoring the game-winning run for the Mallards after reaching base with a single to lead off the inning. <\/p>\n

The rest of the Mallards offensive production belonged to Ryan Rogowski who finished the night three-for-four with a run and two RBI. Rogowski tripled to lead off the game and scored on a sacrifice fly by Mike Rohde to give the Mallards a 1-0 lead. <\/p>\n

Rogowski added to the Mallards lead in the second inning with a two-RBI single that put the Mallards up 3-0. But Rochester battled back with a run in the third and two in the fifth to tie the game up.<\/p>\n

J.J. Hollenbeck (4-0) picked up the victory for the Mallards, throwing two innings out of the bullpen while allowing just two hits and striking out three.<\/p>\n

The game winning run was set up by a key sacrifice bunt by Dan Melvin allowing Comadena to advance to second base. Comadena finished the game as the only Mallard other than Rogowski with a multi-hit game, going two-for-four.<\/p>\n

The Mallards have the day off Sunday before hitting the road for three games away from the Duck Pond. The Mallards return home Thursday, June 30th to take on the La Crosse Loggers at 7:05 p.m.<\/p>\n
