The Mallards pitching staff took care of business for the second straight night in Alexandria, pacing the Mallards (2-2 second-half, 25-13 overall) to their 3-1 victory over the Beetles (1-3, 15-22). The victory gives Madison a two-game winning streak heading into the 2005 All-Star break.<\/p>\n

Northwoods League All-Star J.J. Hollenbeck continued with his ?perfect? season, improving to 7-0 after throwing seven innings of five-hit baseball. Hollenbeck pulled even with Thunder Bay?s Casey O?Rourke for the league lead in victories and lowered his ERA to 2.13. The right-hander from Virginia Military Institute struck out seven while walking just two. Tim Gudex and Matt Petty came out of the bullpen to shut the door on the Beetles and Petty picked up his team-leading sixth save of the season.<\/p>\n

For the second night in as many days, the Mallards scored two runs before Alexandria could muster any sort of offensive threat. Madison put a two spot on the board in the third inning and that proved to be enough for Hollenbeck and the rest of the Mallards pitching staff. <\/p>\n

The Mallards scored all three runs without producing an extra base-hit or an RBI as Alexandria committed three costly errors. Randy Molina finished the night two-for-four with a run scored. Will Vogl was the only other Mallard to finish with a multi-hit game, going two-for-four as well.<\/p>\n

The Mallards are off until Friday July 15 for the 2005 All-Star Game in Alexandria. Ryan Rogowski, Mike Rohde, J.J. Hollenbeck, Jake Hansen and Adam Mills are the five Mallards selected to represent the Northwoods League South Division in Wednesday?s game. <\/p>\n
