North Carolina State outfielder Bobby Hubbard has become accustomed to large crowds the last couple seasons. The college team has developed into one of the better programs in the Atlantic Coast Conference and the nation.<\/p>\n

“We got a new stadium a few years ago (at N.C. State) and the fans are starting to talk some trash to the other team,” said Hubbard. “It’s becoming a very fun environment.”<\/p>\n

Still, Hubbard knows playing at Warner Park will be exciting.<\/p>\n

“I can’t wait,” Hubbard said. “From everything I’ve heard, Madison is the place to play.”<\/p>\n

Hubbard said a few of his Wolfpack teammates conveyed to him how fun it is to play in Madison. Matt Mangini, Jonathan Diaz and Ramon Corona all played for Thunder Bay last season and raved to Hubbard about the Duck Pond.<\/p>\n

While he’s never been to Madison, Hubbard has been to Chicago to watch a game at Wrigley Field. He’s a big Cubs fan and counts Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg and Mark Grace as his two favorite players. He also likes watching Barry Bonds. “I don’t see how any player doesn’t like watching him play,” said Hubbard.<\/p>\n

Hubbard is quick to point out his style isn’t similar to Bonds’. “I’m more of a doubles hitter, a guy who can hit for a high average.”<\/p>\n

He hopes to play alot this summer, at any position.<\/p>\n

“I’ve played the outfield the last two seasons at college and I’m starting to get used to it. I played shortstop in high school. I think versatility will help me get more at-bats next season (at N.C. State).”<\/p>\n
