The Madison Mallards hope some home cooking is just what the doctor ordered when they take on the Duluth Huskies at 7:05 p.m. at the Duck Pond on the Neckerman Agency Madison Blues Turn-Back-the-Clock-Night. <\/p>\n

The Mallards will be sporting replica 1940s style Madison Blues uniforms and the first 1,000 fans will receive a free replica Blues hat. Live Blues music, presented by Madison Magazine, will take place pre- and post-game with Westside Andy and the Mel Ford Band. Stick around after the game for the human cannonball David ?The Bullet? Smith. The Mallards are currently in the midst of a four game skid, but so far this season the Ducks are 4-2 at home and their overall record still stands at 7-7.<\/p>\n

Pitching for the Mallards tonight will be Brian Smith (pictured below). Smith is 1-0 with a sparkling 0.00 ERA in two starts this summer. He has struck out eight and walked just two in 14 innings of work. He also has one complete game to his credit.<\/p>\n

The Mallards are coming off yet another hard-luck loss to the Wisconsin Woodchucks last night in Wausau. The Mallards held a 4-3 lead entering the seventh inning but the Chucks put up a four spot en route to a 7-6 victory. Four Mallards had multi-hit games in the losing effort, including Wayne Bond, who had perhaps his best game of the summer, going 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored.<\/p>\n

Tonight is also Portage Night — the second of 19 TDS Community Nights in 2006. This summer, fans from 19 different communities in the Madison area will receive discounted tickets courtesy of TDS. Residents of Portage can receive a bleacher seat for only five dollars tonight. Groups of 100 or more from one organization will receive group discounted tickets at four dollars per ticket.
