Gates will open at 1 p.m. with early arriving fans being rewarded with a pair of Mallards batting gloves (first 1,000 fans, all ages). Then put those gloves on and grab a bat because the first person to hit a home run at a designated target will receive $ 10,000! Parents, don’t forget it’s also Kids Eat Free Sunday!<\/p>\n

The rules for the World’s Largest Batting Practice goes as follows:<\/p>\n

The contestant must hit the ball while standing in the batter\u2019s box at home plate. <\/p>\n

Each contestant is allowed only one pitched ball, whether they swing at the ball or not. <\/p>\n

There will be only one winner. In the event that there are more than two qualified, the Madison Mallards shall determine which individual shall be the official winner. In the event that two people qualify as winners, the winner will be determined by a 5 swing home run derby. <\/p>\n

To win, the batted ball must hit within the circle on the fly, without touching the ground, any object on the ground, or any other object other than the outfield wall before hitting within the circle. <\/p>\n

The prize amount is $ 10,000. <\/p>\n

The event will be video-taped and West Bend Mutual Insurance Co\/NSI will be provided with a copy of the video tape in the event that there is a winner. The video tape must clearly show the ball pitched by the pitching machine, hit by the batter, and landing within the designated circle on the fly. <\/p>\n

Current college (those who participated during the most recently completed college season and still have college eligibility remaining) or professional baseball players (anyone who has ever received pay to play) are not eligible to be a contestant. <\/p>\n

Also, Monday is the debut of the World’s Frog leg Eating Championship at the Duck Pond! Watch competitive eaters and fans vie for the eating crown! <\/p>\n

Great seats are still available for all games, including Sunday and Monday’s games, and can be printed and purchased by visiting Mallardsbaseball.com or by calling the ticket office at 246.4277.<\/p>\n

With the team in the middle of a heated playoff race, and winner of 15 of the last 16 games, there is no greater time than now to be a Mallards fan. <\/p>\n
