The Mallards continued to roll Saturday evening with a 6-2 win over Battle Creek completing a two game sweep over the Bombers. Madison has now won eleven straight games and remain a half game back of Eau Claire in the South Division as Eau Claire defeated Wisconsin 4-3.<\/p>\n

Madison got things going right off the bat Saturday with a three run first inning and from then on scored once more in the fifth inning and twice in the sixth. <\/p>\n

Seven of the nine batters in the Mallards line-up reached base including lead-off man Jordan Comadena (pictured below) who went 2-for-4 with one run scored and an run batted in. Outfielder Evan LeBlanc also went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and two runs scored and Bobby Hubbard added more RBI \u2018s to his Mallard leading list with two on the evening. <\/p>\n

As for the Bombers, catcher Tony Sanchez supplied most of the offense as he went 2\u2013for-4 with a home run and two runs batted in. <\/p>\n

The big story for Madison was the production of starting pitcher Scott Heitshusen who earned his fifth victory of the season by going six innings of work and allowing two earned runs on seven hits and striking out four batters.<\/p>\n

Tommy Elrod earned another lost as he drops to 0-3 on the season going five and two-thirds innings of work. Elrod allowed five earned runs and struck out three Mallards hitters on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Steve Gilgenbach, Brett Scarpetta and Bubba O\u2019Donnell all contributed to closing out the Bombers and helping the Mallards earn their eleventh straight victory. <\/p>\n

The Mallards return home Sunday, August 5th to begin a two game set with Green Bay. With the regular season coming to an end the Mallards are arguably the hottest team in the Northwoods League and every game is an important step to a playoff berth. <\/p>\n
