\n\tMequon, WI – July 24, 2014. After a three day break from Northwoods League action, the Madison Mallards (12-9, 30-24) take on the Lakeshore Chinooks (15-3, 39-13) tonight at Kapco Park in Mequon, Wisconsin. The Mallards currently sit 4.5 games back of the Chinooks in the South Division second half standings, and 10 games back overall, tied for second with the Wisconsin Woodchucks. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tMallards southpaw Rob McDonnell (Illinois) will look for his sixth win against Chinooks righty James Teague (Arkansas). <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tMcDonnell is 5-2 with a 2.83 ERA, and in 41.1 innings of work he has struck out 36 while holding opposing batters to 29 hits. His last start he went six scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out five in a 5-0 victory over the Willmar Stingers. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tTeague, a 6’0”, 180-pound freshman out of Bartlesville, Oklahoma holds a 2.01 ERA and has struck out 35 batters in 31.1 innings pitched, all while giving up 16 hits and walking just seven. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn his last start, he tossed six innings of one hit ball, blanking the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters while striking out 12 in a 2-0 win.  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAt the Northwoods League All-Star game on Tuesday, Mallards first baseman Pete Alonso (Florida) hit a three run homer to lead the South Division over the North Division by a score of 3-0 in Mequon. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAlonso was awarded the Northwoods League Star of Stars MVP award for his 1-for-3 performance with three RBI and a run. Also representing the Mallards was outfielder Alex Bacon (North Florida) and catcher Drew Carlile (Bradley). Carlile went 1-for-2 with a single.  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tMallards pitchers Christian Taugner (Brown), Sterling Sharp (Eastern Michigan) and Tim Black (Central Michigan) all made relief appearances in the game. Black, the Northwoods League leader in saves, recorded the save for the South Division after tossing one inning and striking out one in the ninth. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Mallards return to the “Duck Pond” tomorrow for a 7:05 pm game against the Chinooks. Friday is <\/span>Jay Hazen Dentistry for Madison Muskies Turn Back the Clock Night with a Toothbrush Giveaway. It is Badger Bowl Bowling Appreciation Night, as well as Bark in the Park, where fans can bring their pooch to the ballpark! <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
