\n\tKalamazoo, MI – August 9, 2014. Mallards starter Nate Hoffmann (Madison College) tallied five strikeouts and right fielder Connor Marabell (Jacksonville) hit a two run jack in the third inning to lead the Madison Mallards (20-18, 37-33) past the Kalamazoo Growlers (16-20, 29-42) tonight in by a score of 5-1.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tHoffmann was steady in his third start, allowing one run on five hits in five innings of work to earn his third win of the season. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tMarabell added an RBI single in the ninth to finish 3-for-5 with three RBI. Also aiding in the win was third baseman Trent Higginbothem (North Florida), who finished 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the eighth inning. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tGrowlers starter Ryan Colegate (Ohio Dominican) was tabbed with the loss after giving up three runs over 6.1 innings.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Mallards end their 2014 Northwoods League season tomorrow against the Growlers at 4:05 pm (CT). <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
