\n\t\"3.2_Release\"<\/a>Madison, WI – February 4, 2015.  The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of two key players for the 2015 roster.  Catcher Bryce Carter (Stanford University) and left-handed pitcher Scott Moss (University of Florida) will join the Mallards roster.  With the addition of these players, the Mallards continue their relationship with both the Stanford and Florida programs who have provided the Mallards with highly talented players in the past. \n<\/p>\n

\n\tLast season, the Stanford Cardinal provided another solid catcher in Austin Barr, while Florida sent the 2014 Northwoods League Player of the Year Pete Alonso.  Another notable Mallard alumni who went to the University of Florida is pitcher Jonathon Crawford, who was drafted in the first round, 20th<\/sup> overall pick by the Detroit Tigers in the 2013 MLB Junior Amateur Draft.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tCarter, a 6’1”, 200-pound freshman from Tulsa, Oklahoma will join the Mallards lineup this year.  Carter will begin his career with the Cardinal this spring.  Carter is highly decorated from his efforts on and off the field at Cascia Hall Prep High School.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAmong Carter’s awards, are 2014 Louisville Slugger First-Team High School All-American, 2014 Perfect Game Second-Team All-American, and First-Team All-West Region.  He also won the 2014 Ferguson Jenkins Oklahoma Scholar-Athlete Award.  Additionally, Carter was named 2014 Tulsa World Metro High School Player of the Year while leading his team to the 2014 state quarterfinals.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the summer of 2014, Carter played for the CCL Pufcats, where he was named a California Collegiate League All-Star. Carter was also drafted in the 40<\/span>th<\/sup> round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the San Diego Padres.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tMoss, a 6'5", 210-pound redshirt freshman from Deltona, Florida will also join the Mallards for the first time in 2015.   Moss will begin his career with the Gators this spring after redshirting his freshman year in 2014.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn 2013, Moss’ senior year at Deland High School, he posted a 0.52 ERA, tallying 70 strikeouts in 40.1 innings pitched.  Moss’ stellar senior year earned him all-state recognition in Class 8A and was a first-team All-Central Florida selection.  Additionally, Moss was voted as the Daytona Beach News –Journal’s Player of the Year.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the class of 2013 Final Rankings by Perfect Game, Moss was ranked number 32 in the state of Florida and number five among left-handed pitchers.  Moss was drafted in the 38<\/span>th<\/sup> round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the Colorado Rockies.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Madison Mallards are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 22nd season of summer collegiate baseball in 2015, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 120 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Allen Craig (BOS) and Ben Zobrist (OAK).
