Carly Oliver (University of the Cumberlands) hit the first home run of the season and Northwoods League Softball History. They faced Rachel Mori (William Peace University) on the mound in the first inning where she allowed 10 runs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">La Crosse came back swinging in the second with a double from Lindsey Schultz (Grinnell College) and an earned run from Katie Beagle (University of Illinois at Springfield). But the Night Mares answered with four more runs in the end of the second.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Andrea Jaskowiak (University of Iowa) kept calm on the mound as she pitched the first four innings with an ERA of 2.25. She allowed five hits and walked one batter.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Night Mares had 2,322 fans at Warner Park celebrating the inaugural season, breaking the attendance record for Northwoods League Softball. Dads filled the stands for the Father\u2019s Day game, along with many young softball players watching women\u2019s sports find its place in Madison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Steam and Night Mares will face off again tomorrow at 6:05pm at Warner Park.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">##<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Leveraging the 30-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women\u2019s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024.\u00a0 The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play.\u00a0 Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":19,"featured_media":16541,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[13,1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-16540","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-team-news","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.5 (Yoast SEO v26.5) -
