Host Family Program<\/strong><\/em><\/h1>\n

Do you love softball?

THEN YOU AND YOUR FAMILY MAY BE PERFECT AS A MANKATO HABANEROS TEAM HOST PARENT\/FAMILY!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Every year approximately 20 young women move to Mankato for the summer to play for the Mankato Habaneros Team. From mid-June through early-August, these young, aspiring softball players continue to hone their softball skills playing 42 games in 45 days. Players come from all over the U.S. to participate in the Northwoods League and to be a part of the Mankato Softball Team.<\/p>\n

The Mankato Habaneros Team Host Family program will be a vital part of the team\u2019s success both on and off the field. Having the players become part of a local family helps them have a sense of normalcy in a strange, new city. Many of the players become more than a guest, they actually become part of the family, inviting their hosts to their future weddings and family events!<\/p>\n

To become a Host Family\u2026<\/strong><\/div>\n

  • Provide<\/strong>:\n
      \n
    • A legal, clean bedroom and bed for the player during the softball season in a safe and comfortable living environment<\/li>\n
    • Some meals for the player(s) during the season<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Benefit:<\/strong>\n

      • Host Family (family household members) will receive a free season pass allowing them ticket access to ALL regular season games, both home and away<\/li>\n

          FAQs:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          • Does the player require his own bedroom?<\/strong>\n
              \n
            • Most families offer the players a spare room. We ask that it be a legal bedroom and not a storage room made into a bedroom.\u00a0 Ask yourself, would you like your daughter to stay there if he was staying with a new family?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
            • Will I have to provide meals for the player?<\/strong>\n
                \n
              • You will be asked to provide meals or have food in the fridge while the team is in town.\u00a0 On game days, a post game meal is provided by the team.\u00a0 Expect to provide some type of breakfast and lunch, and have some food available for late night meals.\u00a0 It\u2019s best to have a sit down with your player and go over meal expectations and requests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
              • Will I have to provide transportation for the player?<\/strong>\n

                • Some players will have their own car, but others may need a ride to the ballpark.\u00a0 The Mankato Habaneros Team Host Family Coordinator will assist in setting up carpools as well.\u00a0 You do not have to provide a car for the player, but you may be asked occasionally for a ride if they don\u2019t have their own transportation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
                • Is it like my college daughter coming home for the summer?\u00a0<\/strong>\n
                    \n
                  • Exactly!\u00a0 When they do arrive depending on their school and softball schedule, they are playing softball 40 of 45 days of the season, so you don\u2019t really see them much depending on the home and away schedule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
