{"id":35304,"date":"2026-07-20T22:22:55","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T03:22:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-habaneros\/?p=35304"},"modified":"2026-07-20T22:24:28","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T03:24:28","slug":"habaneros-fall-to-spitfires-despite-late-rally-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-habaneros\/2026\/07\/20\/habaneros-fall-to-spitfires-despite-late-rally-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Habaneros Fall to Spitfires Despite Late Rally"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>GRAND FORKS, N.D. \u2013<\/strong> The Habaneros traveled to North Dakota for another matchup against the Spitfires.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mankato started strong, taking a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI double by Kylinn Stangl (University of Minnesota).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Grand Forks responded quickly, scoring six total runs to lead 6-1 at the end of the first inning.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Spitfires added two more runs in the third, making it an 8-1 game.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Habaneros rallied in the fourth, scoring first on an RBI double from Marleigh Louvar (University of St. Thomas) to cut the deficit to 8-2. Two more runs in the fourth and an additional run from Katy Olive (University of Miami, Ohio) in the fifth helped close the gap to an 8-5 score.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Each team added three runs in the sixth, making the score 11-8.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mankato added one more run, but it wouldn\u2019t be enough to overtake the Spitfires. Grand Forks won with a final tally of 11-9.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Habaneros will be back in action tomorrow, taking on the Spitfires again at Albrecht Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: center\">###<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Leveraging the 32-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) is the first for-profit Women\u2019s Summer Collegiate Softball League that began play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024.\u00a0 The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play.\u00a0 Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GRAND FORKS, N.D. \u2013 The Habaneros traveled to North Dakota for another matchup against the Spitfires.
