{"id":15826,"date":"2023-06-25T21:40:54","date_gmt":"2023-06-26T02:40:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/?p=15826"},"modified":"2023-06-25T21:40:54","modified_gmt":"2023-06-26T02:40:54","slug":"win-streak-hits-seven-as-moondogs-bury-rox","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/2023\/06\/25\/win-streak-hits-seven-as-moondogs-bury-rox\/","title":{"rendered":"Win Streak Hits Seven as MoonDogs Bury Rox"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Mankato MoonDogs kept the good times rolling on Sunday afternoon, as they scored 11<br \/>\nunanswered runs in a 11-5 victory over the St. Cloud Rox at Joe Faber Field.<\/p>\n<p>The MoonDogs got plenty of offense once again, as the NWL\u2019s hottest offense has now scored<br \/>\n72 runs in their last seven contests, spanning the entire win streak. They also got solid pitching to<br \/>\nkeep the Rox at bay on the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>St. Cloud got on the board first. After loading the bases, a sacrifice fly would score the game\u2019s<br \/>\nfirst run and then an RBI single gave them a 2-0 lead. This was the first time in 10 games that the<br \/>\nMoonDogs have been scored on first.<\/p>\n<p>However, that early lead for the Rox would not last. With two outs, <a href=\"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/player\/?id=2663\">Mikey Gottschalk<\/a> (MSU-<br \/>\nMankato) and <a href=\"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/player\/?id=6184\">James Agabedis<\/a> (Tulane) would walk, and that was followed up with an eight<br \/>\npitch at-bat in which Ty Rumsey (Evansville) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Then, <a href=\"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/player\/?id=3577\">Dustin<\/a><br \/>\nCrenshaw (Grand Canyon) ripped a two-run single to tie the game. The line continued to move<br \/>\nas <a href=\"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/player\/?id=5868\">Kip Fougerouss<\/a>e (Evansville) ripped an RBI single to give Mankato the lead. Following a<br \/>\npitching change, <a href=\"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/player\/?id=6814\">Ryan Nicholson<\/a> (Cincinnati) looped a two-run single before <a href=\"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/player\/?id=6612\">Max Williams<\/a><br \/>\nFlorida State capped off the incredible six-run inning with an RBI double that made the score 6-<br \/>\n2.<\/p>\n<p>That two-run single was not the last that would be heard from Crenshaw, as he crushed a solo<br \/>\nhome run to right field in the fifth inning, and then <a href=\"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/player\/?id=6014\">Hunter Faildo<\/a> (Hawai\u2019i) would make it an 8-2<br \/>\ngame with an RBI knock an inning later.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/player\/?id=5967\">Jack Anker<\/a> (Fresno State) got the start for the black and orange, and after a tough first inning,<br \/>\nsettled in and dominated. The right-hander would toss six innings, retiring eight batters in a row<\/p>\n<p>at one point, allowing just two runs while striking out seven, and would earn his third victory of<br \/>\nthe season.<\/p>\n<p>The MoonDogs continued the offensive barrage in the eighth inning, as they scored a run on<br \/>\nanother fielder\u2019s choice by Faildo, then on an error, and finally a bases-loaded walk by Crenshaw<br \/>\nto extend the lead to 11-2. The Rox would get one in the eighth inning and two in the ninth<br \/>\ninning to keep it interesting, but it ultimately didn\u2019t matter as Mankato won with ease, 11-5.<\/p>\n<p>The MoonDogs will go for win number eight in a row tomorrow night at ISG field, once again<br \/>\nagainst the Rox. First pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>The Mankato MoonDogs are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League.
