The MoonDogs would strike first after an appeal from the coaches over Brendan Hord sliding into first to avoid the awkward throw. This would extend the inning for Kip Fougerousse to push Asher Bradd in.<\/p>\n<p>The Honkers would not let that run go without a fight as they would get one back in the third. The MoonDogs would not stand for that getting one themselves as Ty Rumsey would get in on a double play.<\/p>\n<p>It would continue to look good for the MoonDogs they would trade runs with the Honkers until the fifth inning when the Honkers would put three up with no response from the MoonDogs.<\/p>\n<p>It would not take long for the MoonDogs to get the response they wanted with one getting across the plate in the seventh tying the game at five a piece.<\/p>\n<p>This game would go scoreless the rest of the way through regulation. In the tenth inning the MoonDogs would lean on the big guns to get it done with Kip Fougerousse hitting a sac fly to push Kai Roberts in for the 6-5 victory.<\/p>\n<p>The MoonDogs hit the road for the final two games of the season in Waterloo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>The Mankato MoonDogs are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. Now in its\u2019 30<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 24 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires, and front office staff, over 325 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (NYM), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (BOS). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and 2019\/2021 Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and 2021 All-Star, MLB Gold Glove winner and 2019 Second Team All-MLB shortstop Marcus Semien (TEX).
