{"id":16334,"date":"2024-05-10T08:13:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-10T13:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/?p=16334"},"modified":"2024-05-10T08:15:26","modified_gmt":"2024-05-10T13:15:26","slug":"6th-year-moondog-front-office-exec-takes-the-reigns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/2024\/05\/10\/6th-year-moondog-front-office-exec-takes-the-reigns\/","title":{"rendered":"6th Year MoonDog Front Office Exec Takes the Reigns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Mankato, Minn. \u2013 <\/strong>The Mankato MoonDogs organization proudly announced today that long-time front office executive Walker Regier has been promoted to the General Manager position effective immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Regier, who\u2019s currently in his sixth season in the Northwoods League and fifth with the MoonDogs organization, had been previously serving as the assistant general manager for the past two seasons prior to his new appointment and has been a driver in the MoonDogs growth.\u00a0 With Regier leading the way for the Diamond Dreams, LLC ownership group that took over operations of the MoonDogs in 2018, the Mankato franchise has seen yearly attendance rise from 1,096 fans\/game (2017) to a record 1,628 fans\/game in 2023.\u00a0 A Minnesota State University Mankato graduate, Regier also earned his master\u2019s degree in Sports Management from MNSU. Regier got his start in the Northwoods League in 2019 when he served as an operations intern for the Willmar Stingers.<\/p>\n<p>MoonDogs co-owner Chris Goodell lauded Regier\u2019s past efforts and foresees continued growth under his leadership. \u201cWalker has been a driving force in leading our organization in many facets for several years now, a true Northwoods League executive at his core.\u201d\u00a0 Goodell continued, \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to elevate him to our General Manager position and look forward to his continued leadership taking our MoonDogs brand to new heights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Regier shared his excitement in taking on his new role, \u201cI am excited for the opportunity to take over as the General Manager of the Mankato MoonDogs. Over the past 25 years the MoonDogs have become a staple of the Mankato community and I look forward to working with all of our partners during the 2024 Season and beyond to continue this great summer tradition.\u201d\u00a0 Regier continued, \u201cAlso, with the 2024 Northwoods League All Star game coming\u00a0to town it is another\u00a0exciting\u00a0thing for all of us to look forward to. The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. Now in its\u2019 31st<sup>h<\/sup>\u00a0season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 24 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires, and front office staff, over 325 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (TEX), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford (STL) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (ATL). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and 2019\/2021 Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and 2021 All-Star, MLB Gold Glove winner and 2019 Second Team All-MLB shortstop Marcus Semien (TEX).
