{"id":17432,"date":"2026-07-03T21:43:13","date_gmt":"2026-07-04T02:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/?p=17432"},"modified":"2026-07-03T21:43:13","modified_gmt":"2026-07-04T02:43:13","slug":"moondogs-drop-road-contest-to-honkers-13-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/2026\/07\/03\/moondogs-drop-road-contest-to-honkers-13-8\/","title":{"rendered":"MoonDogs Drop Road Contest to Honkers, 13-8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>ROCHESTER, Minn. \u2013<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Mankato MoonDogs fell to the Rochester Honkers, 13-8, on Friday night at Mayo Field.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mankato struck first in the second inning on a two-run home run from Liam Ebbs (Wofford College), but Rochester answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The MoonDogs stayed within striking distance, tying the game at 6-6 in the fifth after Sam Erickson (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Texas A&amp;M University<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">) hit a three-run homer. The Honkers responded with a seven-run bottom of the fifth and added another run in the sixth to pull away.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The MoonDogs scored once in the sixth on Preston Bonn&#8217;s (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">North Carolina State University<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">) two-run home run and added their final run in the eighth, but couldn&#8217;t close the gap.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ebbs finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Erickson drove in three runs with his home run, and Bonn went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Andrew Purdy (University of Alabama) and Evan Rolbiecki (University of Hawaii) each added two hits as Mankato totaled 11 hits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The MoonDogs will look to bounce back in the next game against the St. Cloud Rox at ISG Field on Sunday. First pitch is at 5:05 pm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">###<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Northwoods League is the proven leader in developing elite college baseball players.
