The MoonDogs have announced the hiring of Brad Rupert as field manager for the 2003 season. Rupert, 35, is currently the head coach at Shasta Community College in Redding, California. Rupert replaces Rusty McLain, who guided the MoonDogs to a 33-31 record in the team’s inaugural season.<\/p>\n

Rupert is entering his 13th season at Shasta, the last seven years serving as the head coach. This will be Rupert’s second tour of duty in the Northwoods League after serving as an assistant coach with the now-defunct Kenosha Kroakers in 1998.<\/p>\n

MoonDogs owner Joe Schwei cited Rupert’s experience and familiarity with the league as key reasons for the hiring. "Brad was highly recommended by a variety of coaches across the country. He will continue to build upon the tremendous work that was done here in the first year."<\/p>\n

Rupert said from his home in Redding, "I’m very excited to get back to the Northwoods League, and it will be great to bring my family to southern Minnesota for the summer." Rupert is married (Molly) and has two daughters. (Reilly,3, and Calley,1).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
