Duluth overcame a four run deficit after the first inning, to defeat the MoonDogs 7-5, at Wade Stadium Thursday night.<\/p>\n
Mankato jumped all over Huskies starter Brandon Rinnan in the first, scoring four times in the inning. However, Duluth quickly cut the lead in half by scoring two runs in their half of the first.<\/p>\n
Rinnan, still trying to find his control in the second, surrendered one more run to the \u2018Dogs to make it a 5-2 lead.<\/p>\n
The MoonDogs looked to be in good shape with ace, Will Krout, on the hill, but Duluth chipped away against Krout and the deficit. Duluth tallied two runs in each the third and fourth innings, then one more in the sixth to take command of the game, 7-5.<\/p>\n
Both bullpens came on in the sixth and didn\u2019t allow a run to either team.<\/p>\n
Krout and Rinnan each completed just 5.2 innings. Krout (3-4), who picked up the loss, allowed an uncharacteristic 7 runs (1 unearned) on 8 hits, walking none and fanning 3 Huskies, while Rinnan gave up 5 runs (1 unearned) on 6 hits and walking 3 MoonDogs.<\/p>\n
Kody Valverde was the hero for the Duluth Huskies, going 3-4 with a home run and 3 RBI, while Rinnan (4-3) picked up his fourth win on the season.<\/p>\n
