The MoonDogs let a 4-0 lead slip away Monday night in Duluth, as the Huskies escaped the ninth inning to take the game 6-4.<\/p>\n

Control problems by Duluth Huskies starting pitcher Brent Hale gave Mankato an early 4-0 lead by scoring one run in the top of the second and three runs in the top of the fifth. Hale went six innings, but gave up seven hits and six walks. <\/p>\n

Philip Springman got his first start of the season for the MoonDogs and shutout the Huskies the first five innings. But in the bottom of the sixth inning, Duluth figured him out, scoring four runs to tie the score at four all. <\/p>\n

The very next inning, the Huskies scored two more runs. A costly error came back to haunt the MoonDogs, as the Huskies scored two unearned runs, with the winning run coming off of a wild pitch by Cole DeVries. <\/p>\n

DeVries (0-2), who came in to relieve Springman, took the tough-luck loss.<\/p>\n

Jon Shepard went 2-4 with a double, one run scored and a RBI. Brad Baker turned in another multi-hit game, going 2-4 with a run scored.<\/p>\n

Mankato returns to Franklin Rogers Park to host the defending Northwoods League champion Wisconsin Woodchucks Tuesday and Wednesday night.
