MoonDogs "Cook" up a Win!

After the MoonDogs made their second out in the bottom of the ninth inning, it looked as though the \u2018Dogs would surrender yet another game to the Huskies with a score of 6-4. That was until Robert Rodebaugh and Shane Buschini put together back to back singles followed by an Aaron Grant double that scored both Rodebaugh and Buschini to tie the game. With the score 6-6, it was all in the hands of the MoonDogs newest addition Andy Cook after Alberto Cruz was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Cook came through in the clutch with a hit up the middle, allowing Grant to score the winning run with a 7-6 score.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Dogs struggled early as the Huskies scored five runs in second inning to take a commanding 5-0 lead. It wasn\u2019t until the bottom of the fifth inning that the MoonDogs tallied up two runs when Matt Mossy hit an RBI triple followed by a Reid Fronk sacrifice. The MoonDogs then made the game even closer when they pulled within one run in the seventh inning thanks to a Ryan Addison double off the left field wall that scored two runs to make the game 5-4.<\/p>\n
With the game close, the Huskies added one insurance run in the ninth inning to take a two run lead, but it wasn\u2019t enough. Pandemonium hit Franklin Rogers Park as Aaron Grant crossed home plate for the game winning run.<\/p>\n
The MoonDogs put together an offensive showcase with 15 hits throughout the ball game. The \u2018Dogs were led by leftfielder Ryan Addison who went 3-5 with two RBI, one double, and one stolen base. Aaron Grant entered the game in the sixth inning going 2-3 with two RBI, one run, and a double. The hero, Andy Cook, finished the game 2-3 with a double and one very important RBI.<\/p>\n
MoonDogs starter Cameron Young hurled five innings, striking out seven batters. Mike Miller relieved Young in the sixth and went three innings without allowing one base runner. Kevin Regan picked up his fifth win of the year after working the ninth inning.<\/p>\n
The MoonDogs travel to Brainerd tomorrow to take on the Blue Thunder in game-one of a two-game series. The talented John Hadden will have the call at 7:05 p.m. as the MoonDogs look to make a run at the playoffs.
