(Alexandria, MN) \u2013 In a game that featured three homeruns, 22 runs, and 30 hits, the MoonDogs (4-9)
\ncame up short, dropping a 15-7 decision to the Beetles (9-5). One MoonDog and two Beetles hit homeruns on Wednesday night. MoonDog catcher Ben Geelan was 2-for-5 with a run scored on his homerun and three RBI. Beetles outfielder Tim Dellwo and designated hitter Casey Coleman each hit a homerun and combined to score six times and drive in three runs.<\/p>\n
In addition to Geelan\u2019s performance, the MoonDogs had several big nights on their way to 13 hits. Center fielder CJ Belanger and newcomer shortstop Sean Nicol each went 3-for-5 while scoring once. Nicol also drove in a run. First baseman Mike Lobacz was 2-for-5, scoring twice and driving in a run. <\/p>\n
Starter Danny Keefe (1-1) took the loss for the MoonDogs, going 4 1\/3 innings and allowing seven runs on eight hits and striking out six. Reliever Will Palmer replaced Keefe and gave up three runs on five hits in 1 1\/3 innings. To finish a rough sixth inning, Josh Castanza recorded the last out, but not before giving up two runs on two hits. To close out the game, Tim Ryan threw two innings and gave up one run.<\/p>\n
In addition to his homerun, Tim Dellwo finished the game 4-for-5, scoring four times and driving in two. Casey Coleman was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and one RBI. Outfielder Gunner Glad was 2-for-4, scoring three times and driving in three. Third baseman Caleb Curry was 2-for-5 with three RBI, and second baseman Jeff Tezak was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and one RBI.<\/p>\n
For the Beetles, starter Logan Hoch allowed six runs on nine hits in four innings. Outfielder Gunner Glad (1-0) moved to the mound, throwing three innings and giving up one unearned run on three hits to record the win. Reliever Blake Smith finished off the game for the Beetles, throwing two innings, allowing just one hit and striking out five.<\/p>\n
The MoonDogs conclude their series tonight against the Beetles in Alexandria at 7:05 pm. The game can be heard online at the MoonDogs website.
