{"id":2567,"date":"2008-06-04T05:00:01","date_gmt":"2008-06-04T05:00:01","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T05:00:00","slug":"moondogsendlosingstreakagainstmadison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/2008\/06\/04\/moondogsendlosingstreakagainstmadison\/","title":{"rendered":"MoonDogs End Losing Streak Against Madison"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(Mankato, MN) For the second straight game, the Mankato MoonDogs jumped out to a first inning lead over the Mallard home team, but this time the MoonDogs received a solid starting pitching performance, and were able to come through with a 9-3 victory Tuesday night.  Carlos Ramirez (Chandler Gilbert) and Wes Freie (Iowa) each drove in first inning runs on singles on their way to multi-hit performances, and Michael Rockett (Texas-San Antonio) extended his doubles streak to three consecutive games.<\/p>\n<p>Starter Ryan Demmin (UW-Oshkosh) seemed to be quite comfortable back in his home state as he went six innings allowing three earned runs on four hits and four walks.  Demmin also struck out six Madison batters on the evening.  The MoonDog bullpen also had another great night pitching three scoreless innings.  Zach Calhoon (Texas-San Antonio) pitched a perfect seventh inning, which included a strikeout, to extend his scoreless streak to three innings.  Dale Dickerson (Nicholls State) struck out the side in the eighth and Erik Hamren (UC-Irvine) walked two and struck out two in the ninth to complete the game.  The MoonDog bullpen has allowed one earned run in 18 2\/3 innings this season.<\/p>\n<p>The victory Tuesday night was the first for the MoonDogs against the Madison Mallards in their last 12 meetings.<\/p>\n<p>The MoonDogs will continue their road trip in Battle Creek this evening with the first pitch set for 6:05 p.m.  Radio Guy J.J. Hartigan will begin his pre-game show at 5:45 p.m. and this can be accessed through the MoonDog Homepage.
