(Mankato, MN) Tim Smith hit three home runs when he played with the Mankato MoonDogs in 2006. He had three career home runs at the minor league level (two this season) before he stepped to the plate leading off the top of the tenth inning of the Midwest League All-Star Game, but picked the right time to increase that number to four as he pushed the West All-Stars to a 5-4 victory with his solo shot. In 2006, Smith hit an even .300 playing all 67 games for the MoonDogs. He had team-high numbers in hits (75), runs (33), walks (36), and on-base percentage (.409). He was also tied for second on the team in doubles with nine. His 75 hits put him in a tie for first in the NWL hits standings, while his 250 at-bats on the season and 95 total bases both ranked him third in the league. His .300 batting average also put him among the league leaders with the fifth highest in the NWL.<\/p>\n

This past season with the Spokane Indians, Smith hit .284 in 23 games. Tim had 23 hits including five doubles and drove in nine runs for the Rangers’ minor league club. He also scored 18 runs to round out a short, but solid statistical season.<\/p>\n

Through the first half of the season this year, Smith is batting .298 with 76 hits including fifteen doubles and three triples. He also has driven in 41 runs for the Clinton LumberKings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
