Mankato, Minn. \u2013 The Mankato MoonDogs have added two new players today as Evan Kohli and Kevin Belk have signed contracts to play for the MoonDogs for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n

Kohli wrapped up this spring as one of the anchors of the Illinois State offense. He started 46 of the 48 Redbird games and finished the year with a .308 average with three home runs and 32 RBI. <\/p>\n

Prior to Illinois State, Kohli spent two seasons at Madison Area Technical College, earning Third Team All-America Honors in 2008. That year he hit .375 with 15 doubles posted a 5-3 record with a 3.46 ERA on the mound en route earning All-Conference and All-Region honors.<\/p>\n

Kohli spent a majority of his time on the mound for MATC in 2007, saving three games and striking out 42 in 42.2 innings. He also hit .275 in 19 games for the Wolfpack.<\/p>\n

Belk, who will be attending the University of Indianapolis in the fall, finished second on the Kirkwood CC (Iowa) squad in appearances this past spring with 15. He struck out 26 in just over 34 innings of work, helping the Eagles to 37-19 overall record.
\nIn his freshman season (2008), Belk appeared in 12 games, posting a 3.45 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 26 innings of work. He finished the year 1-1 with a save for his 31-win Kirkwood club.<\/p>\n

The MoonDogs are currently 32-19 on the year, tied for best record in the Northwoods League. They have already clinched a playoff berth with a first half North Division title and are still in the running for home field advantage for the playoffs. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
