{"id":3168,"date":"2012-04-25T05:00:01","date_gmt":"2012-04-25T05:00:01","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T05:00:00","slug":"moondogsaddtwocardinalstotheroster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/2012\/04\/25\/moondogsaddtwocardinalstotheroster\/","title":{"rendered":"MoonDogs Add Two Cardinals to the Roster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MANKATO, Minn.&#8211;The Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a member of the Northwoods League, is pleased to announce the commitment of infielder Nick Ratajczak along with pitcher, Kyle McGrath to play for the MoonDogs in the 2012 season.<\/p>\n<p>Ratajczak, a 5-foot-10-inch, 180-pound junior from the University of Louisville is currently hitting .349 in his first season with the Cardinals. Ratajczak transferred to U of L from Gulf Coast Community College where he was named the Panhandle Conference Defensive Player of the Year for 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The Joliet, Ill. native is expected to remain at second base for the MoonDogs this summer.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Nick will be a great addition to the team he&rsquo;s not only a good second basemen, but he&rsquo;s also a contact hitter. We expect him to play everyday and be at the top of the order,&rdquo; said field Manager Mike Orchard. <\/p>\n<p>McGrath, a 6-foot-3-inch, 220-pound sophomore from U of L is currently redshirting for the Cardinals after transferring from Eastern Kentucky University. McGrath was able to strike out 35 batters in just 45 innings played for the Colonels.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;After redshirting, we look forward to bringing Kyle onboard. He&rsquo;ll have a fresh arm that will be capable of playing all summer long,&rdquo; said Orchard. <\/p>\n<p>The MoonDogs home opener is scheduled for Friday, June 1 at 7:05 p.m. against the St. Cloud Rox at Franklin Rogers Park.
