{"id":4563,"date":"2015-06-02T03:45:54","date_gmt":"2015-06-02T03:45:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/?p=4563"},"modified":"2015-06-02T03:45:54","modified_gmt":"2015-06-02T03:45:54","slug":"moondogs-sting-willmar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/2015\/06\/02\/moondogs-sting-willmar\/","title":{"rendered":"MoonDogs sting Willmar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tMankato, MN &ndash;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAustin Warner picked up his first win of the season in front of 702 fans at Franklin Rogers Park, Monday night in Mankato, Minnesota.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWarner, the junior left handed pitcher out of Bellarmine, got his second start of the year going five innings while only allowing one run and striking out eight.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tJordan Scheftz and Samuel Myers both worked in relief of Warner, and Kyle Goodbrand finished off the Stingers working the last inning, picking up his first save of the season.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFor the MoonDogs offensively, Kaden Moore led the charge going 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI. Craig Nennig also added two hits and two runs in three trips to the plate.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Willmar Stingers were led by outfielder Dan Motl who went 2-for-5 and scored a run.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe series now shifts to Willmar for day two of the home and home series. MoonDogs will return to The Frank Wednesday night at 7:05 as they face the Rochester Honkers, where it will be Dollar Dog Night.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;font-size: 14px;line-height: 20px\">&ldquo;The Mankato MoonDogs are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 22nd season of summer collegiate baseball in 2015, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 120 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Lucas Duda (NYM) and Ben Zobrist (OAK).
