{"id":5314,"date":"2016-07-03T07:22:13","date_gmt":"2016-07-03T07:22:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/?p=5314"},"modified":"2016-07-03T07:22:13","modified_gmt":"2016-07-03T07:22:13","slug":"moondogs-power-past-loggers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/mankato-moondogs\/2016\/07\/03\/moondogs-power-past-loggers\/","title":{"rendered":"MoonDogs Power Past Loggers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<em>La Crosse, WI &#8212;&nbsp;<\/em>The Mankato MoonDogs powered their way to a win on Saturday at Copeland Park in Wisconsin, pounding three, two-run home runs against the La Crosse Loggers en route to a 9-3 win.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tChase Hamilton (Austin Peay), Drew Fearing (North Dakota State), and Bryce Adams (LSU) each left the yard on Saturday night, putting on a power display that hadn&#039;t been seen out of the MoonDogs this season.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFearing started the power surge in the second inning, driving a ball out Copeland Park with David Metzgar (Cal State Bakersfield) on to take a 2-1 lead in the third inning. The home run answered the bell for Mankato, after the Loggers scored a run in the bottom of the first to take an early 1-0 lead.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tChase Hamilton would not be out done, as the Dogs cleanup man crushed a ball of his own to right field, bringing home Jake Shepski (Notre Dame) that helped improve the MoonDogs lead, 4-1.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAfter Jake Shepski singled to drive in Metzgar and Hamilton brought in Jordan Washam (LA Tech), Bryce Adams let loose a monster two-run shot of his own, breaking the game wide open in the fifth as the MoonDogs took an 8-1 lead.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tLa Crosse would score two in the seventh, but Mankato would get one back in the ninth to make the final score 9-3. Josh Matheson earned his second win of the season, while the Logger&#039;s Zach Kesterson dropped to 1-3 on the season. Mankato and La Crosse will square off in the weekend finale with a&nbsp;6:05 PM first pitch at Copeland Park.\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\n\t###\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<em>The Mankato MoonDogs are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 23rd season of summer collegiate baseball, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
