\n\tMankato, Minnesota—In the first game back from the Northwoods League All-Star game, the Mankato MoonDogs defeated the Waterloo Bucks by a score of 13-10 to gain a game on the division leading Willmar Stingers who fell at the hands of the La Crosse Loggers.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter falling behind by two runs in the first, the ‘Dogs came storming back, sending 15 batters to the plate and scoring nine runs in their first at bat.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Mankato pitching staff allowed three long balls, but were aided by six Waterloo errors helping them score double digit runs for the second consecutive game.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tJake Shepski, Alvaro Rubalcaba and David Metzgar led the MoonDogs at the plate, totaling six hits, six RBIs, and six runs between the three of them: Shepski went 3-for-4 two runs and one RBI, Metzgar went 1-for-5 with one run and three RBI, and Rubalcaba went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, and three runs scored.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe MoonDogs, who blasted five homeruns in their last game on Sunday, were able to score all 13 of their runs without flexing their muscle and hitting any homeruns tonight.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBrett Newberg relieved starter Jordan Harms in the fourth, and gave the MoonDogs 2.2 innings allowing just one run while striking out two to earn his first victory of the season.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tKevin Yarabinec pitched a scoreless ninth, striking out one Buck, for the ‘Dogs to earn his third save of the year.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe MoonDogs and Bucks will square off again tomorrow night at Franklin Rogers Park for the second game of a four-game series before wrapping the series up in Waterloo for the final two games.\n<\/p>\n
